Brisbane, Gold Coast, Cairns.

Queensland is a bit of a Shangri-La for South Australian's and we have lost much of our population to it recently due to worsening economic conditions here (the collapse of our State Bank) and boom times there (the State Government keeping taxes and charges low). Aside from the employment opportunities and the real estate possibilities, it is a magnificent place for a holiday in the sun and is in fact Australia's favourite holiday destination, very similar to Florida in the U.S. It has beaches, rainforests, world heritage wilderness, Great Barrier Reef, tropical islands, theme parks, animal and bird parks and good shopping. We have visited eight times and had very memorable holidays there. Brisbane is a great city and the Riverside Markets are the best art & craft markets we have been to. The City Sights bus tour is a must to get the rundown on the attractions of the city and a smattering of it's history. The Gold Coast has fabulous beaches, great hotels, casino and Pacific Fair shopping centre. Also theme park's galore. There are some great wildlife parks. Fleay's fauna park is a must see as is Currumbin sanctuary. Gold Coast hinterland has magnificent rainforest environments and tours are available with very friendly guides. The rainforests are quite varied with different dominant tree species from one spot to the other.

This page is a project yet to be worked on. I hope to include some rainforest shots here some day.
