THE COACH
(Peter Simmons)
"We had more of the ball than them, more forward entries, more shots on goal, we just gave it away. To fall over in the last 10 minutes and lose by 20-odd points is very disappointing."

COMMENTS
After gaining the initiative early in the last quarter the Tigers were over-run by the Panthers to the tune of 24 points.  South Adelaide responded magnificently to Glenelg's inability to secure victory with the last five goals including three goals in four minutes.

Statistically Glenelg outscored their opponent in most aspects of the game except where it mattered the most- the scoreboard.

After the early success of David Mitchell in the forward lines, the Tigers lack a specialist forward.  In contrast to their opponent, Glenelg's defenders eg, Sherwood, Allison and Mules were constantly under pressure from South's threatening forwards.

At times Glenelg's kicking for goal was amateurish.  A stranger to SANFL football would have thought that Glenelg Oval was the home of the South Adelaide Football Club instead of the Glenelg Football Club.  Ultimately, Glenelg's 1 goal 7 points opening quarter was a major factor in the third consecutive loss.
