THE COACH
(Peter Simmons)
"If you look at last year's effort, a lot of games the Glenelg Football Club lost were in the third quarter. Part of our program is that we go hard for a couple of hours and we've structured a reasonable-sized break in the middle of our training sessions. "

COMMENTS
The Peter Simmons era is off to a winning start with a come from behind 11 point victory against West Adelaide.  It was Genelg's first victory against the Bloods since 1999.

In the first half the Tigers were loose in their checking which allowed the Bloods to keep a reasonable distance between the teams.  However, Glenelg's superior fitness, concentration and determination eventually won the day.

Inspired by their focal supporters the Bays slammed on 8 goals to 3 in the second half to record an impressive first up win.

New recruits, Daniel Kirk, Jeff Smith, Troy Butcher, David Mitchell and Aaron Rogers demonstrated that they have the potential to be handy acquisitions.  With Brett Doswell and Lucas Herbert waiting in the wings the Tigers may finally have the depth that has been sadly missing.

The Tigers face a tougher challenge in round 2 when they face last year finalists, the Eagles.
