Fruit and vegetables I have grown

Fruit / Vegetable Yield Number of Plants Planting Season & Year Comment

Capsicum Great 10 Spring 2007 10 plants have been producing flat out over the past 2 - 3 months
Strawberries Average to poor 4 Winter 2007 I don't eat them, however the ones that did get eaten I got told they were good.
Cauliflower Poor 6 Winter 2007 White moth got into them and I possibly planted them to close together.
Broccoli Poor 6 Winter 2007 Planted the same time as the Cauliflower with the same results
Cucumber Great 1 Spring 2007 Still growing and still producing up 30cm long 5cm diameter cucumbers
Chili Great 2 Varieties Spring 2007 Lots of chilli's coming on the two plants varieties these are super hot and insanely hot
Watermelon OK 1 Spring 2007 I picked the first one too early and it didn't turn out to well. The second is waiting in the fridge. The rest of the fruit didn't eventuate due to the heat here in Adelaide.
Snow Peas OK 10 Winter 2007 Not a bad crop, however I failed to give them something to climb on so the yield wasn't so good.
Broad beans Great 10 Winter 2007 Once the plants had reached maturity they didn't stop producing.
Celery Poor 8 Spring 2007 The plants started to grow and just when I was about to start eating I turned my back and the plants went to seed. Possible I planted them in the wrong season.

Interesting info on Chilli

The two varieties that I have grown in my hydroponic garden were chosen not because I liked them it's just that's what was available at the plant nursery when I bought them. The two varieties are Habenero and Jalapeno and as I stated above they are insanely hot and super hot respectively. I did some research and discovered that chilli are part of the genus Capsicum. The active component inside them that burns your taste buds is called Capsaicin. This has since been synthesised and is the active ingredient in Pepper spray. The Scoville scale is used as one of the means of determining the hotness of the variety. Click on the above links to read more on Wikipedia

More to come soon when I get the time.....
