Margaret River Environment Centre Website

our region

Situated in the Capes Region of the lower south west of Western Australia ,Margaret River is a unique and beautiful rural area with many natural attractions.

The Capes Region is bridged in to the west by the Indian Ocean, and an intricate network of ancient limestone cave and cliff formations that comprise the Leeuwin Naturaliste Ridge. At its southern most point Cape Leeuwin meets the Southern Ocean. To the east are majestic old growth Karri and Jarrah forests. The northern most point ends at Cape Naturaliste and Geographe Bay .

The south west of Western Australia has been identified as one of twenty biodiversity hot spots in the world. Margaret River is well known as a major wine producing area of WA, and is also famous for its surf breaks and pristine coastline. There are many highly regarded arts and crafts people providing a well-developed “cottage industry” ethos in the region.

our centre

The Margaret River Environment Centre is situated in the old Infant Health Centre, opposite the Shire Offices, in Memorial Park, Margaret River. We aim to provide a dynamic, bright and open space where members can work together towards achieving a better environment for all.

The centre is a not-for-profit, community based organisation, with a committee of management and a voluntary roster system for staffing the centre during week days. We receive funding through our local shire's Community Development Fund, and through memberships, donations and fundraising initiatives.
