CODEBASHER'S BF2 COOP MOD

---- 32 bots on near 32 size player maps ----

I took the 16 player single player maps, added up to 32 bots, overlayed 32 or 64 player boundaries to open up space, then added control points and equipment close to the perimeter of the 16 player pathing mesh resulting in a whole new experience. For the flyboys, where practicable I also added missing aircraft and choppers to the airfields. The end result was much larger maps than 16 player with six to seven control points instead of only three or four. This altered the flavour of some to give a new perspective on a number of maps.

Quick Question and answers:

====================

Q: Fushe Pass won't work on COOP in V3

A: There is a bug in the EA original Fushe Pass map I can't fix. I can only hope the 1.03 patch may address this problem, or that someone else may develop a fix. Until then it still does well as a single player map.

Q: The bots don't work in multi player

A: The bots are in single player, play the single player games. This is not a fix for multiplayer but rather a tweak for single player that also allows for coop lan play as well.

Q: Dedicated server didn't install properly. files are missing.

A: To keep the package this small you need for the mod to be installed into a full BF2 directory structure. During install coop copies a range of files from the \MODS\BF2\ directory rather than having the user download them. BF2 comes with dedicated server as part of the package and I was thinking of that rather then the free server-only edition.

Q: I want to use the free internet version of dedicated server. As I can't "install" the game to utilise "it's" dedicated server. How can I get that to work?

A: Be warned! This works... but you are NOT going to like it.

    1) Install free dedicated coop server
    2) copy across your network (burn to cd or whatever) the ENTIRE BF2 directory structure (including coop mod) over the top of the dedicated server from a pc with the game & mod installed.
    3) tada...  (well... it works)
    4) Remember to delete the two md5 files in the server's coop_3.0 directory

Q: Will this effect PunkBuster?

A: No. This is a stand-a-lone mod and will be seen as such.

Q: Will any of by BF2 files be changed?

A: No: The mod lives in it's own directory

Q: What about queuing maps up for dedicated server.

A: There are tools out there I'm sure. I kept this real simple as to get everyone started.

Q: Can I attach the realism mod to this mod?

A: Sure can, check with realism mod site's and resources.

Q: I cant see my friends when they are hosting and .. when I click "connect to IP" nothing pops out for me to try to insert their IP.. must i go make an online account?

A: Yes.  or.....you can do the following

1 ) Both peeps start game using BF2_start.bat
    2) Get the host to start a local multiplayer LAN game (not single player). Map doesn't matter at this point.
    3) Get the other computer to go to join local lan game screen but NOT JOIN the server. At this point the host should be visible on the client machine
    4) have the server quit and start a single player map of choice.
    5) Once server player has spawned, have client then click join and viola, LAN with bots and no internet connection

Q: The thing is unstable on my machine. what to do?

A: Try editing the mod's  \AI\DefaultAI.ai   file to reduce bots from 32 to 28 or 26 or even 24.

aiSettings.setMaxNBots 32

Sadly lots of bots are not that stable at the best of times.. *me shakes fist at EA.

Q: I have a leet gaming rig, can I try for 64 bots?

A: go for broke and I hope it works for you  Use above trick by replacing 30 with 64   :D

Q:  I ain't playing it 'till this boycott of BF2 expansion pack is gone! (V_2.0 only)

A:  Go to each level's info directory  /COOP_2.0/LEVELS/{any level}/INFO/  and edit loadmap.png with mspaint to change the graphic to anything you'd like.

Q: Why did you write this

A:  Because EA and DICE are a worthless collection of cheap miserable bastards.
