oh dear, here we go again :|
Before you ask
  • Ni jiu yeo yi ge xiao tou! Wei shen mo ni yao fan?
  • Mata omae wa chiisa na atama ga aru-koto dakara, naze o-meshi hoshii na no?
  • Du hast schon einen kleinen Kopf, warum willst du dann Reis ?
  • Tu as déjà une petite tête, pourquoi veux-tu du riz?
  • Ya tienes una pequeña cabeza. ¿Por qué quieres arroz?

AKA, Carl Sagan's Baloney Detection Kit

Culture wank bit

It's grand to be unemployed
   And lie in the Domain,
And wake up every second day -
   And go to sleep again.

And a bit more ...

I am sitting in my dingy little office, where a stingy
Ray of sunlight struggles feebly down between the houses tall,
And the foetid air and gritty of the dusty, dirty city,
Through the open window floating, spreads its foulness over all.

...

And I somehow rather fancy that I'd like to change with Clancy,
Like to take a turn at droving where the seasons come and go,
While he faced the round eternal of the lusers and the pointy-heads -
But I doubt he'd suit the office, Clancy of The Overflow.

With apologies to Banjo

And now some CJ Dennis (I think it was my father who bought me a copy of Merry-Go-Round when I was young enough to enjoy it, but not enough to understand who CJ was).

I sometimes think: When I'm a man,
I'll get a good black billy-can
And hang some corks around my hat,
And lead a jolly life like that.

And some Marvin

Now the world has gone to bed
Darkness won't engulf my head
I can see by infra-red
How I hate the night

Now I lay me down to sleep
Try to count electric sheep
Sweet dream wishes you can keep
How I hate the night

Gratiuitous advertising/plugging/stupidity section

  • I'd better get a plug in for Boxcar before it's too late.
  • What hasn't been said about Severed Heads hasn't been said.
  • Need Mac stuff done? F8 multimedia would be the go, although why a Mac 'shop' has named themselves after the magic Windows boot key, and not call themselves 'FDISK.EXE /MBR', is anyone's guess.
  • Plug for Tesseract Computing in Hobart, Tasmania. Not quite sure what he's up to nowadays, but anything Macintosh pre-OSX, I'd certainly be asking him first.

News links

Geekery

  • Stuffing around with gaim. If these links don't work, wel, it's because I must be migrating.
  • What can I say about Celeste Stokely that hasn't been said before? A guru to newbies, a wonderful starting point, and collector of fine geek humour.
  • Kris Pister's Smart Dust page, which runs TinyOS. Berkeley have their own TinyOS page as well. I'm still hunting up hardware vendors, drop me a line if you spot/know of some (note, if online ordering is offered for kits, it MUST be international or the site will NOT get listed). With the advent of second-gen smart dust, the future of chips have arrived.
  • Glad to have finally found the home page for the 'local radio telescope', Mt Pleasant. Well it's two hills behind my parent's residence, but it's still 'local' to me.
  • New Scientist, Scientific American.
  • Cyrus, Squrrelmail, Apache, MySQL or PostgreSQL, and Web-Cyradm. Oh, PhpMyAdmin (yes there's a thing for PostgreSQL as well... on SF), Non-Gnu's Savannah. I'll make links for TuTOS, as well as other stuff WICBF.
  • I should put a bunch of stuff in about my Newton 120, such as the ATA driver, some time.....
  • Then there's the Linux BBC project, as well as the Damn Small linux project.
  • I wish Downloader for X was a bit more reliable.
  • Too much geekery can be a bad thing, or so my Mum tried to tell me once - I've still got the plaque that says that too, somewhere. She accused me of 'playing games' ... when in fact it was 6502 assembler I was learning. I'm not accusing her of being wrong, just rather badly misunderstanding me ;). Needless to say, there's a cute Happy Penguin page for games.
Stuff I want or don't want
  • er, I had some stuff here from the 'big' online vendor's wishlists and crap. But their security blows goats.. so ishan't.

* I do realise my email address isn't here. If you can't work it out for yourself, do you think I really want to hear from you?
