Harvest time is well-established in the Southern Hemisphere. In South Australia, the summer - so far - has been gentle, extending the harvesting period. The cereal crops are all safely in, and for the home gardener and the fisherman, the weather has been ideal. Having the apricots finish before the peaches start to fall, and the nectarines with still a week or so to go suits me just fine!
With a good selection of fruit, vegetables, and herbs in the garden, there is a real feeling of celebration in the air. There is plenty for friends and neighbours, for the birds, and for me, in spite of there being almost no rain during January.
Friends interstate have not been so fortunate - Global Warming has brought many more violent and unseasonal storms. February is our hottest month, so we must be prepared for harsher conditions, and the ever-present danger of bushfire.

We hear of a heavy winter in the North, but know that sooner or later you will see
the first green spears of the snowdrop piercing the snow.
Whether this is for you the beginning of Spring, or of Autumn, they each bring their own specific Grace and Blessing.
Whatever the world's troubles,
"There is always hope"

"A person of courage today is a person of Peace.
The courage we need is to refuse authority, and to accept only personally responsible decisions."
