Greetings!

February Sunrise seen from the RainbowWeb in Adelaide, South Australia

This is a season of hope & optimism, whether we live in the North or the South of the planet. In the South, this is Lammas, or Disting, the beginning of harvest - the air is rich with the odour of ripening stonefruit - peaches, nectarines, apricots, & plums, & though it is hot, we are deep into jam-making & preserving, to ensure the enjoyment of summer's bounty when winter comes. And we bake the Lammas loaves & offer them up to be blessed.

In the North, though we may be snow-bound, somewhere a few green shoots can be found,

& we pluck them to place on the altar, by the candles of Candlemas. The ancient name for the festival of Brigid is Imbolc, celebrating the first ewemilk that comes with the new-born lambs.
